Otto Peltzer (politician)

Otto Peltzer (born October 17, 1871, in Wernigerode; died June 11, 1936, in Wernigerode) was a German politician and lawyer. He served as Mayor of Wernigerode from 1909 to 1933.

Peltzer studied law and passed his assessor examination. Prior to his mayoral position, he worked as a lawyer. As Mayor of Wernigerode, he oversaw numerous infrastructural developments, including improvements to the water supply and the expansion of the local hospital. Peltzer was a member of the German Democratic Party (DDP, later the German State Party) during the Weimar Republic.

Following the Nazi seizure of power in 1933, Peltzer was forced to resign from his position as mayor. He was succeeded by a Nazi party member.
