Beinn Tarsuinn (Munro)
Beinn Tarsuinn is a Scottish mountain located in the Coulin Forest, Wester Ross, in the Northwest Highlands. It is classified as a Munro, a Scottish mountain over 3,000 feet (914.4 metres) in height. The name "Beinn Tarsuinn" translates from Gaelic to "crosswise mountain," likely referring to its position lying across the glen.
The mountain is often climbed as part of a traverse of the Coulin Forest Munros, which includes its neighbouring peaks, Sgurr Fhuaran and Sgurr Eadar da Choire. The traverse is noted for its rocky terrain and challenging scrambling sections.
Beinn Tarsuinn's summit offers extensive views of the surrounding landscape, including Loch Torridon and the peaks of the Torridon Hills. The geology of the area is dominated by Torridonian sandstone.
The approach to Beinn Tarsuinn typically involves starting from a location along the A896 road and following paths that lead into the Coulin Forest. Navigational skills are essential, particularly in poor weather conditions.
