John Butler (album)

John Butler is the self-titled debut album by Australian roots/rock musician John Butler, released independently in December 1998. The album was recorded with the John Butler Trio lineup of John Butler (vocals, guitar), Gavin Shoesmith (bass) and Rory Quirk (drums). It features primarily instrumental tracks showcasing Butler's guitar skills and his blend of blues, folk, and jam band influences. It was sold primarily at live shows and through independent record stores. This album represents the genesis of Butler's career and provides a glimpse into the early sound that would later define the John Butler Trio.
