Nizhnyaya Toyma (river)

The Nizhnyaya Toyma (Russian: Ни́жняя То́йма) is a river in Verkhnetoyemsky and Vinogradovsky Districts of Arkhangelsk Oblast in Russia. It is a right tributary of the Northern Dvina. It is 165 kilometers (103 mi) long, and the area of its basin is 1,530 square kilometers (590 sq mi).

The source of the Nizhnyaya Toyma is in the southeastern part of Verkhnetoyemsky District, in the Konoshsky Uval. The river flows in the general direction of north-west. The valley of the river is populated; the settlements of Dvinskoy and Troynichevskaya are located on the banks of the Nizhnyaya Toyma. The mouth of the Nizhnyaya Toyma is opposite the selo of Ust-Toyma on the Northern Dvina.

The river basin of the Nizhnyaya Toyma comprises areas in the west of Verkhnetoyemsky District and in the south-east of Vinogradovsky District.
