History

The station opened on November 15, 1939. At that time it was named Kaminokae Station (上ノ加江駅, Kaminokae-eki). It was renamed Niida Station on October 1, 1969. With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) on April 1, 1987, control of the station passed to JR Shikoku.
