Ministry of the Air (Spain)
The Ministry of the Air (Spanish: Ministerio del Aire) was the name of the air force ministry in Spain during the Francoist dictatorship. Its existence spanned from 1939 to 1977, following the conclusion of the Spanish Civil War. The Ministry was responsible for the overall administration and operation of the Spanish Air Force (Ejército del Aire). This included budgeting, personnel management, procurement of aircraft and equipment, and strategic planning. It played a significant role in the modernization and expansion of the Spanish Air Force throughout the post-Civil War period. Its functions were subsequently integrated into the broader Ministry of Defence (Ministerio de Defensa) after the transition to democracy in Spain. Further research is needed to fully detail the specific organizational structure, key personnel, and historical impact of the Ministry of the Air throughout its existence.
