Niel Nye

Niel Nye is an American science educator, television presenter, mechanical engineer, and science communicator. He is best known as "Bill Nye the Science Guy," the host of the Emmy Award-winning children's science program of the same name (1993-1998).

Born in Washington, D.C., Nye began his career as a mechanical engineer for Boeing after graduating from Cornell University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He later transitioned into comedy, becoming a writer and performer on the sketch comedy show "Almost Live!" in Seattle.

The success of "Bill Nye the Science Guy" propelled Nye into a prominent role as a science advocate. The show made complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging for young audiences, emphasizing hands-on experiments and a humorous approach.

Beyond the show, Nye has remained active in promoting science education. He has authored several books on science topics for both children and adults, including "Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation," "Unstoppable: Harnessing Science to Change the World," and "Everything All at Once." He also frequently appears on television and in documentaries, advocating for scientific literacy and addressing issues such as climate change. He served as the CEO of the Planetary Society from 2010-2022, further solidifying his commitment to space exploration and scientific outreach.
