Filmways

Filmways, Inc. was an American entertainment company. Originally a television commercial production company, it later expanded into television production, film production, and distribution.

Filmways was founded in 1952 by Martin Ransohoff and Edwin Kasper. They initially focused on producing commercials for television. The company's expansion into television programming began in the late 1950s, with early successes including "The Beverly Hillbillies," "Mister Ed," and "Petticoat Junction." Filmways also produced feature films, notably "Cactus Flower" and "Carnal Knowledge."

Through acquisitions and internal growth, Filmways became a diversified entertainment conglomerate. However, the company faced financial difficulties in the 1980s. In 1982, Filmways was acquired by Orion Pictures Corporation. The Filmways name was subsequently retired.
