Hovingham

Hovingham is a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It is located approximately 17 miles (27 km) northeast of York, on the edge of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The village is historically significant, with evidence of Roman settlement and later Anglo-Saxon influence. Hovingham Hall, the ancestral home of the Worsley family, is a prominent feature. It is notable for being built around a Roman bathhouse and has a history dating back to the 18th century. The Hall is not generally open to the public, but the surrounding parkland can sometimes be accessed.

The Church of All Saints is the Anglican parish church and dates back to the Norman period, with later additions and modifications. It contains notable architectural features and historical artifacts.

Hovingham hosts a popular village market on the first Saturday of each month, featuring local produce, crafts, and food. The village also has a public house, a primary school, and other local amenities, serving both residents and visitors. The surrounding area is predominantly agricultural.
