National War Memorial (Newfoundland)

The National War Memorial of Newfoundland, officially known as the Newfoundland National War Memorial, is a prominent war memorial located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It commemorates the sacrifices made by Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who served in the First World War, the Second World War, and the Korean War.

The memorial is situated in downtown St. John's, on a site overlooking the harbour. It consists of a cenotaph made of Cornish granite, featuring three bronze figures representing the navy, the army, and the air force. These figures symbolize the services in which Newfoundlanders and Labradorians participated. Below the figures are inscribed the names of the major battles in which Newfoundlanders and Labradorians fought.

The National War Memorial has become a significant site for Remembrance Day ceremonies and other commemorative events in the province. It serves as a focal point for remembrance and reflection on the contributions and sacrifices of those who served in the armed forces. The memorial is maintained by Veterans Affairs Canada. Its official dedication was in 1924.
