SSC Bari
SSC Bari, commonly referred to as Bari, is an Italian football club based in Bari, Apulia. Founded in 1908, the club has a long and storied history, although marked by periods of success and financial instability. Bari currently competes in Serie B, the second tier of Italian football.
The club's home stadium is the Stadio San Nicola, a multi-purpose stadium designed by Renzo Piano for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. The stadium has a capacity of over 58,000, making it one of the largest football stadiums in Italy.
Throughout its history, Bari has played intermittently in Serie A, the top flight of Italian football. The club's best league finish came in the 1946-47 season, when they finished seventh. Bari has also reached the final of the Coppa Italia on one occasion, losing to Juventus in 1984.
SSC Bari has a strong local fanbase, known as "I Galletti" (The Roosters), a reference to the rooster depicted on the club's crest. The team's colors are white and red.
Due to financial difficulties, the club has faced numerous restarts and name changes. The current incarnation, Società Sportiva Calcio Bari, was founded in 2018, following the bankruptcy of the previous entity, Football Club Bari 1908. Despite the challenges, the club remains an important part of the sporting landscape in the city of Bari and the wider Apulia region.
