NGC 615
NGC 615 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Cetus. It is estimated to be approximately 60 million light-years away from Earth. NGC 615 is characterized by its prominent central bar structure and well-defined spiral arms. It is a member of the NGC 584 galaxy group.
The galaxy was discovered on January 10, 1785, by the German-British astronomer William Herschel. He cataloged it as H III.260.
NGC 615 has been observed in various wavelengths, including visible light, infrared, and radio waves, providing astronomers with insights into its structure, star formation activity, and gas content. Studies of NGC 615 have contributed to our understanding of the dynamics and evolution of barred spiral galaxies.
