Al Atkinson (born July 23, 1943) is a former professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1966 to 1976. He played for the New York Mets, Montreal Expos, and Atlanta Braves.
Atkinson was originally signed by the New York Mets as an amateur free agent in 1964. He made his major league debut with the Mets on April 17, 1966. Primarily a relief pitcher, Atkinson also made several starts throughout his career. His best season was 1969 with the Mets, where he posted a 2-0 record with a 2.25 ERA in 37 appearances, contributing to the "Miracle Mets" World Series championship team. Although he did not pitch in the World Series, he was a vital part of their bullpen that year.
In 1971, Atkinson was traded to the Montreal Expos. He later played for the Atlanta Braves, finishing his MLB career in 1976. After his playing career, Atkinson remained involved in baseball, working as a coach.
