Du Jin

Du Jin (杜堇) (c. 1465 – c. 1509), also known by his courtesy name Mu'an (慕庵), was a Chinese painter of the Ming dynasty. He was active during the Hongzhi era (1488–1505).

Du Jin was born in Dantu (丹徒, present-day Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province). He was known for his figure paintings, landscapes, and flower-and-bird paintings. He was particularly skilled at depicting historical figures, scholars, and scenes from everyday life. His style was influenced by earlier masters such as Li Tang and Ma Yuan of the Southern Song dynasty.

Du Jin was a contemporary of other notable Ming dynasty painters, including Zhou Chen and Tang Yin. While some sources suggest he was considered a "popular" or perhaps less refined artist compared to some of his contemporaries involved in the literati painting movement, his works were widely appreciated and collected for their skill and accessibility.

His surviving works offer valuable insight into the artistic styles and social customs of the Ming dynasty. He is remembered as a significant, if sometimes overlooked, figure in the history of Chinese painting.
