Richard Finn (bishop)

Richard Finn (born July 17, 1952) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati from 2012 until his resignation in 2023.

Finn was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of St. Louis on May 22, 1976. He holds a doctorate in moral theology from the Gregorian University in Rome.

Prior to his appointment as bishop, Finn served in a variety of roles within the Archdiocese of St. Louis, including parish priest, professor of moral theology at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, and director of formation for the archdiocese.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed Finn as an Auxiliary Bishop of Cincinnati and Titular Bishop of Formianae on December 6, 2011. He was consecrated on February 3, 2012, by Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr.

Finn was responsible for the Western Region of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. His episcopal responsibilities included confirmations, pastoral visits to parishes, and representing the Archbishop at various events.

On September 21, 2023, Pope Francis accepted Bishop Finn's resignation as Auxiliary Bishop of Cincinnati. The Vatican provided no reason for the resignation.
