WITI (TV)

WITI is a television station licensed to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. It broadcasts on virtual channel 6 and is affiliated with the Fox network. The station is owned by Nexstar Media Group.

WITI's studios are located on North 90th Street in Milwaukee, and its transmitter is located in Estabrook Park.

The station first signed on the air on June 21, 1953, as WOKY-TV. It was originally owned by the Bartell Broadcasters, Inc., along with WOKY radio (920 AM). It became WITI-TV in 1954 when Bartell sold the television station to Independent Television, Inc., which was owned by Storer Broadcasting. Storer changed the call letters to reflect their own name.

WITI was a CBS affiliate until 1961, when it switched affiliations with WISN-TV (channel 12) and became an ABC affiliate. Storer sold WITI to Gillett Broadcasting in 1985. Gillett was then acquired by SCI Television in 1987, which in turn was acquired by New World Communications in 1993.

In 1994, New World entered into an affiliation agreement with Fox, resulting in WITI switching its affiliation to Fox on December 11, 1994. At that time, WITI began branding itself as "Fox 6."

Nexstar Media Group acquired Tribune Media (WITI's parent company at the time) in 2019, making WITI a Nexstar-owned station.

WITI broadcasts a variety of programming, including local news, syndicated programs, and Fox network shows. The station's news operation is branded as "Fox 6 News."
