Osro Cobb
Osro Cobb (1904-1996) was an American lawyer and politician from Arkansas. He served as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas from 1953 to 1961, during the Eisenhower administration. Cobb is notable for his moderate stance on civil rights during a period of intense racial segregation in the South. While he enforced federal law, including court orders related to desegregation, he also attempted to navigate the volatile political landscape of Arkansas and maintain a degree of peace. He faced significant opposition from staunch segregationists within the state. After his service as U.S. Attorney, Cobb practiced law in Little Rock and remained involved in civic affairs. His papers are held at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
