Motuloa (south of Nukufetau)

Motuloa is a small islet (Motu) located south of the main island of Nukufetau atoll, Tuvalu. It is part of the group of islands that comprise the Nukufetau atoll. Like the other islets of Nukufetau, Motuloa is a low-lying coral island, susceptible to the impacts of climate change, particularly sea-level rise and increased storm surges. The island is typically uninhabited, used primarily for traditional resource gathering activities by residents of the main island. Its vegetation consists predominantly of coconut palms and native shrubs. The surrounding marine environment supports a diverse ecosystem of coral reefs and marine life, important for the local subsistence economy.
