Glenn Davis (hurdler)

Glenn Ashby Davis (December 12, 1934 – January 28, 2009) was an American athlete who excelled in both track and field and American football. He is best known for his achievements as a hurdler, specifically in the 400-meter hurdles, where he won gold medals at the 1956 Melbourne and 1960 Rome Olympic Games.

Davis set world records in the 400-meter hurdles multiple times during his career. His performances helped to popularize the event and solidify the United States' dominance in the discipline. He was known for his powerful running style and aggressive hurdle clearance.

In addition to his Olympic success, Davis won the 440-yard hurdles at the 1958 AAU National Championships. He also had a brief professional football career with the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams after his track career concluded.

Davis was inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1996. He is remembered as one of the greatest hurdlers in the history of track and field and for his success in both athletics and football.
