Mora (canton)
Mora is a canton in the province of San José, Costa Rica. It is located west of the capital city of San José. The canton is primarily rural and agricultural, with significant areas dedicated to coffee cultivation and other crops.
Geography
Mora is characterized by rolling hills and valleys. The landscape is dissected by numerous rivers and streams. The climate is generally mild and temperate due to its altitude.

History
The canton was officially established on May 25, 1883. Prior to its formal establishment, the area was sparsely populated. The name "Mora" is believed to be derived from a local indigenous chief or a geographical feature.
Economy
Agriculture is the cornerstone of Mora's economy. Coffee is a primary crop, along with other agricultural products such as vegetables, fruits, and livestock. Tourism is also developing, focusing on rural and eco-tourism opportunities.
Demographics
The population of Mora is primarily of Costa Rican descent. There is a small indigenous reservation (Quitirrisí) located within the canton. The population is largely concentrated in the central district of Colón and surrounding areas.
