Pendomer
Pendomer is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England, situated 7 miles (11.3 km) south-west of Yeovil in the South Somerset district.
History
The name Pendomer is derived from the Old English "penna-dun-maere", meaning "boundary hill of Penna". The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Pendemore.
Historically, Pendomer was part of the hundred of Stone. It has been a relatively small and agricultural community for much of its history.
Governance
The civil parish is governed by Pendomer Parish Council. The village is also part of the Parrett ward, which elects a councillor to South Somerset District Council. Since the abolition of South Somerset District Council in 2023, the village falls under the governance of Somerset Council.
Geography
Pendomer is located in a rural area of Somerset, characterized by rolling hills and farmland. The underlying geology is primarily clay.
Demographics
According to the 2011 Census, the parish had a population of 58.
Landmarks
The parish church of St Peter and St Paul dates from the 13th century and has been designated as a Grade II* listed building.
