Monroe (TV series)

Monroe is a British medical drama television series created and written by Peter Bowker, starring James Nesbitt as Gabriel Monroe, a brilliant but often emotionally detached neurosurgeon. The series follows Monroe's professional and personal life as he navigates complex surgical cases and struggles with relationships.

The first series aired on ITV in the UK from March 10 to April 14, 2011. A second series followed, airing from June 7 to July 12, 2012.

The show is set in Leeds and focuses on the neurological unit of a fictional hospital. Alongside Monroe, the series features a supporting cast of surgeons, nurses, and other medical professionals, each dealing with their own challenges both inside and outside the operating theatre. Key themes explored within the series include the pressure of high-stakes surgery, the ethical dilemmas faced by doctors, and the impact of their work on their personal lives.

The series was cancelled after two seasons.
