Mike Brady (musician)
Mike Brady (born May 18, 1948) is an Australian musician, composer, and advertising executive. He is best known for composing and performing a number of iconic advertising jingles and sports anthems, particularly those associated with Australian Rules Football.
Brady began his career in the music industry in the late 1960s. He gained wider recognition in the 1970s through his advertising work, composing memorable jingles for products and brands like Aeroplane Jelly ("I love Aeroplane Jelly"), Hardie's (James Hardie Building Products), and Ansett Australia. These jingles became ingrained in Australian popular culture.
His contribution to Australian Rules Football is significant. He composed the theme songs for several AFL clubs, including "Up There Cazaly" (originally written as a tribute to South Melbourne ruckman Roy Cazaly), which became a national hit and is considered an unofficial anthem for the sport. He also wrote and performed songs for the AFL's centenary celebrations.
