Mercedes-Benz SL (R232)

The Mercedes-Benz SL (R232) is the seventh generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class roadster. It was unveiled on October 28, 2021, and went on sale in 2022. Unlike its predecessor, the R231, the R232 is exclusively available as a roadster and features a 2+2 seating configuration, a first for the SL-Class since the R107 generation. The R232 marks a significant departure from previous generations, being developed entirely by Mercedes-AMG, indicating a greater emphasis on performance and driving dynamics.

Key features of the R232 include a fabric soft-top, replacing the retractable hardtop of the R231, and a comprehensively revamped interior incorporating the latest generation of Mercedes-Benz's MBUX infotainment system. Powertrain options consist of various iterations of Mercedes-AMG's 2.0-liter inline-four and 4.0-liter V8 engines, including hybrid variants. The R232 also features advanced driver assistance systems and sophisticated chassis technologies aimed at providing both comfort and performance. The return to a soft-top roof and the development by AMG are considered key differentiators compared to earlier SL models.
