8th Army Corps (Ukraine)

The 8th Army Corps was a military formation of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. It was established in 2004 as part of the restructuring and modernization efforts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The corps was based in Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine. Its area of responsibility primarily covered the northern and western regions of Ukraine.

The 8th Army Corps comprised various mechanized, tank, and artillery brigades, along with support units. Its role was to provide a rapid reaction force capable of responding to threats to Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty. It participated in various national and international military exercises aimed at improving interoperability and combat readiness.

The corps underwent several reorganizations and upgrades throughout its existence. Key areas of focus included improving command and control systems, enhancing mobility, and equipping soldiers with modern weaponry and equipment.

In 2015, as part of further military reforms within the Ukrainian Armed Forces and in response to the ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine, the 8th Army Corps was disbanded. Its units were reorganized and integrated into other operational commands and formations within the Ground Forces. The legacy of the 8th Army Corps lives on through the soldiers and units that previously served within its ranks and continue to defend Ukraine.
