Tômbua
Tômbua is a city and municipality located in Angola, within the province of Namibe. Situated on the Atlantic coast, it is known primarily as a fishing port and a center for fish processing. The city is located south of Namibe (formerly Moçâmedes), the provincial capital.
The economy of Tômbua is heavily reliant on the fishing industry. A significant portion of the population is involved in activities related to catching, processing, and exporting fish products. This has shaped the city's development and infrastructure.
The climate in Tômbua is typically arid or semi-arid, influenced by its coastal location in southwestern Africa. This contributes to a relatively sparse vegetation cover in the surrounding areas.
Historically, Tômbua has been a point of contact and trade along the Angolan coast. Its strategic location has made it important for maritime activities. As a municipality, Tômbua also includes surrounding settlements and rural areas beyond the immediate city limits.
The municipality's infrastructure includes basic services such as schools, healthcare facilities, and administrative offices. Efforts are underway to improve infrastructure and diversify the local economy beyond fishing.
