Line 6 (Mumbai Metro)
Line 6 (Mumbai Metro), also known as the Pink Line, is an under-construction elevated metro line of the Mumbai Metro. It is part of the larger Mumbai Metro network being developed to alleviate traffic congestion in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The line will connect Swami Samarth Nagar in Lokhandwala, Andheri West to Vikhroli on the Eastern Express Highway, traversing primarily through the northern suburbs of Mumbai.
The Line 6 corridor is approximately 15 kilometers long and includes several stations designed to serve residential and commercial areas along its route. The project aims to improve connectivity between the western and eastern parts of Mumbai, providing a faster and more efficient mode of transportation for commuters. The line will interchange with other operational and planned metro lines, further enhancing the integrated public transport system of Mumbai.
The construction of Line 6 has faced delays due to various factors, including land acquisition issues and other logistical challenges. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is responsible for the implementation of the project. Upon completion, Line 6 is expected to significantly reduce travel time and ease the burden on existing road and rail infrastructure in the city.
