Max Papis

Max Papis (born October 3, 1969) is an Italian professional racing driver. He has competed in a variety of racing series, including Formula One, CART, IndyCar, and NASCAR.

Papis began his racing career in Europe, competing in Formula Three and Formula 3000 before making his Formula One debut with the Arrows team in 1995. He participated in seven Formula One races, scoring no championship points.

In 1996, Papis moved to the United States to compete in the CART series. He achieved moderate success, earning several podium finishes and one race win at Portland in 1999. He continued racing in CART until its demise in 2003.

Following CART, Papis transitioned to the IndyCar Series. He participated in several IndyCar races, including the Indianapolis 500, but did not achieve any significant victories.

Papis also ventured into NASCAR, primarily competing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series (now Xfinity Series). He became known for his aggressive driving style and late-race charges. He earned one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory at Montreal in 2007.

Throughout his career, Papis was nicknamed "Mad Max" for his daring overtaking maneuvers and willingness to take risks on the track. He remains involved in the racing world through driver coaching and business ventures.
