Markus Kurth (politician)

Markus Kurth (born August 5, 1966 in Detmold) is a German politician of the Green Party (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen). He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2002.

Kurth studied political science, modern history, and public law at the University of Bonn, graduating with a Magister Artium degree. He worked as a parliamentary advisor for the Green parliamentary group in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1995 to 2002.

In the Bundestag, Kurth represents the constituency of Lippe I. He has served on various committees, including the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs, where he focuses primarily on issues related to pensions, social security, and demographic change. He has also been a substitute member of the Committee on Health.

Kurth is known for his expertise in social policy and his commitment to strengthening the German social security system. He has been involved in numerous legislative initiatives related to pension reform, unemployment benefits, and social welfare programs. He is also a vocal advocate for social justice and equality.
