Margaret Reid (scientist)
Margaret Reid is an Australian theoretical physicist specializing in quantum optics, quantum information, and quantum foundations. She is a Professor of Physics at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.
Reid is known for her significant contributions to the understanding of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering, a form of quantum nonlocality weaker than Bell nonlocality. Her work has helped to clarify the different types of quantum correlations and their applications in quantum communication and computation.
She has published extensively in leading scientific journals and is a frequent speaker at international conferences. Her research focuses on developing theoretical frameworks for understanding and manipulating quantum systems, with the goal of advancing quantum technologies.
Reid's work has also explored the fundamental limits of quantum measurements and the role of entanglement in quantum information processing. She has made contributions to the development of protocols for quantum key distribution and quantum teleportation.
Her research is funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) and other national and international funding bodies.
