Marea (band)

Marea is a Spanish rock band formed in Berriozar, Navarre, in 1997. Their music is generally categorized as hard rock, though elements of other genres, including punk rock and flamenco, are often incorporated. The band is known for its poetic and often politically charged lyrics, typically written by frontman Kutxi Romero.

The original lineup consisted of Kutxi Romero (vocals), Eduardo Beaumont "Piñas" (bass and vocals), David Díaz "Kolibri" (guitar), César Ramallo (guitar), and Alén Ayerdi (drums). Marea achieved significant popularity in Spain during the 2000s with albums like Besos de Perro (2002) and 28000 Puñaladas (2007), both of which reached the top of the Spanish album charts. They are recognized for their energetic live performances and strong connection with their fanbase.

The band went on hiatus in 2011, with members pursuing other musical projects. Marea officially reunited in 2019, releasing a new album El Azogue and embarking on a successful tour. They continue to be an influential figure in the Spanish rock scene.
