Lotus E22

The Lotus E22 was a Formula One racing car designed and built by the Lotus F1 Team for the 2014 Formula One season. It was driven by Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado. The car was notable for its unique asymmetrical twin-tusk nose, a design intended to improve aerodynamic performance. This radical design was controversial and attracted considerable attention.

The E22 was powered by a Renault Energy F1-2014 1.6-litre V6 turbo engine and featured an eight-speed semi-automatic gearbox. The car suffered from numerous reliability issues throughout the season, particularly with the Renault power unit, which hampered the team's performance.

Despite flashes of potential, the E22 ultimately proved to be uncompetitive compared to other teams. The team finished eighth in the Constructors' Championship with just 10 points, a significant drop from their previous performances. The car was considered a disappointment and marked a period of decline for the Lotus F1 Team before its eventual acquisition by Renault. The asymmetrical nose design was ultimately banned for the following season.
