Ty Burr

Ty Burr is an American film critic. He was a film critic for The Boston Globe from 2002 until 2020. Prior to The Boston Globe, he wrote for the Boston Phoenix. Burr is known for his insightful and often opinionated reviews, covering a wide range of films from mainstream blockbusters to independent and arthouse cinema. He is the author of the book Gods Like Us: On Movie Stardom and Modern Society, published in 2012, which explores the evolution of movie stardom and its impact on culture. Since leaving The Boston Globe, Burr has continued to write about film and culture, often appearing on his Substack newsletter, "Ty Burr's Watch List."
