Prince Leopold (horse)

Prince Leopold was a British Thoroughbred racehorse that achieved notable success in the late 19th century. He was foaled in 1876 and owned by Mr. H. Baltazzi.

While not a Triple Crown winner, Prince Leopold achieved significant victories in prestigious races of his time. He notably won the 1879 St. Leger Stakes at Doncaster, a classic race for three-year-old colts and fillies. This victory established him as a leading stayer of his generation.

Beyond the St. Leger, detailed records of his other racing accomplishments are somewhat scarce in readily accessible historical sources, but his St. Leger win remains his most significant and remembered achievement. After his racing career, he was retired to stud. Information regarding his success as a sire is limited, but his impact on the breed is primarily remembered through his own racing performance.
