Leslie Cliff (swimmer)
Leslie Cliff (born March 11, 1955) is a retired Canadian competitive swimmer who competed at the international level. She represented Canada at two Olympic Games, the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich and the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
At the 1972 Olympics, Cliff won a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley, finishing behind Australia's Gail Neall. She also competed in the 200-meter individual medley and the 200-meter butterfly events.
In addition to her Olympic success, Cliff won multiple medals at the Commonwealth Games. At the 1970 British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland, she won a gold medal in the 400-meter individual medley and a silver medal in the 200-meter individual medley. Four years later, at the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand, she won a gold medal in the 400-meter individual medley.
Cliff also competed at the 1973 World Aquatics Championships in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, where she won a bronze medal in the 400-meter individual medley.
Throughout her career, Leslie Cliff was considered one of Canada's top swimmers and a significant contributor to the country's success in international swimming competitions. She was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1972.
