Lesjaskog

Lesjaskog is a village in Lesja municipality, Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the upper Gudbrandsdalen valley, along the Rauma River and the European route E136 highway.

Lesjaskog is historically significant as the site of the Battle of Kringen in 1612, where local farmers ambushed and defeated a Scottish mercenary force on their way to Sweden. A monument commemorating this event stands near the village.

The village is situated near Lesjaskogsvatnet, a lake known for its unique characteristic of having two outlets flowing in opposite directions: one flows east into the Gudbrandsdalslågen river and the other flows west into the Rauma river. This unusual hydrological feature makes it a popular point of interest.

Lesjaskog also serves as a transportation hub with a railway station on the Rauma Line, connecting Åndalsnes and Dombås. The surrounding area is characterised by mountainous terrain, forests, and agricultural land. The local economy is primarily based on agriculture, forestry, and tourism.
