Heftziba

Heftziba (חֶפְצִי־בָּה) is a Hebrew name meaning "My delight is in her." It appears in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) in Isaiah 62:4. In this verse, it is used metaphorically to describe the restored and redeemed Jerusalem, signifying God's pleasure and renewed favor towards the city. The verse contrasts the city's earlier state of being forsaken with its future glory and acceptance.

The name Heftziba gained further significance in modern Israeli history as the name of one of the first kibbutzim (communal settlements). Kibbutz Heftziba, founded in 1922 in the Jezreel Valley, was named in honor of the biblical verse, representing the pioneers' dedication and joy in rebuilding the land. This connection to the early kibbutz movement further cemented the name's association with Zionism and renewal.
