Królestwo

A królestwo is a Polish word meaning "kingdom." It denotes a state or territory ruled by a king (Polish: król) or queen (królowa). The term encompasses the land, people, and government under the monarch's authority.

A królestwo is typically characterized by a hereditary monarchy, although elective monarchies have also existed. The extent of the king's power can vary, ranging from absolute rule to a constitutional monarchy where the monarch's power is limited by a constitution and parliament.

Historically, królestwa played a significant role in the political landscape of Europe and the world. Poland itself was a królestwo for many centuries, sometimes in personal union with other territories. The Królestwo Polskie (Kingdom of Poland) refers to various historical entities, including the medieval kingdom and the Congress Kingdom of Poland established after the Napoleonic Wars.
