Labangan
Labangan is a municipality located in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines. It is situated on the island of Mindanao.
Geography: Labangan lies within the eastern portion of Zamboanga del Sur. The terrain varies from coastal plains to rolling hills and mountains in the interior.
History: The municipality of Labangan was officially created on November 11, 1977, through Presidential Decree No. 1212. Before its creation, it was part of the municipality of Aurora.
Demographics: The population of Labangan is primarily composed of Cebuano speakers. Other languages spoken include Subanen and Tagalog. The residents are predominantly Roman Catholic.
Economy: The economy of Labangan is largely based on agriculture. Principal crops include rice, corn, coconut, and various fruits and vegetables. Fishing is also a significant source of livelihood for those residing in coastal areas.
Government: Labangan is governed by a mayor, vice-mayor, and a municipal council (Sangguniang Bayan).
