2008–09 Eredivisie (women)
The 2008–09 Eredivisie season was the inaugural season of the Eredivisie Vrouwen, the highest professional women's football league in the Netherlands. The season began in August 2008 and concluded in May 2009. Seven teams participated in the league: AZ Alkmaar, ADO Den Haag, FC Twente, SC Heerenveen, Willem II, Roda JC, and FC Utrecht.
Each team played each other four times, twice at home and twice away, for a total of 24 matches. The team with the most points at the end of the season was crowned the champion.
AZ Alkmaar won the inaugural Eredivisie Vrouwen title, finishing the season with a substantial lead over the other teams. The season marked a significant step in the development and professionalization of women's football in the Netherlands. It established a platform for talented female players to compete at a high level and increased the visibility of the sport.
