WXFT-DT

WXFT-DT is a television station in Chicago, Illinois, United States, broadcasting on virtual channel 62 (UHF digital channel 36). It is an owned-and-operated station of the Spanish-language network UniMás. WXFT-DT's studios are located on West Adams Street in the Chicago Loop, and its transmitter is located atop the Willis Tower.

The station was originally founded as WFMT-TV, an independent classical music station. Its call letters were later changed to WCIU-TV and it served as a general entertainment independent station broadcasting programs catering to Chicago's diverse ethnic communities. In the late 1980s, WCIU affiliated with the Home Shopping Network (HSN).

In 1994, Univision Communications acquired WCIU's full-time broadcast day, resulting in WCIU becoming an independent station again, broadcasting primarily in the daytime hours. The station's broadcast signal on channel 26 was then used to launch WXFT, as a charter affiliate of Univision's secondary network, Telefutura (now UniMás). As part of the agreement, WCIU continued to broadcast ethnic programming during the daytime hours.

In 2016, Univision Communications sold WCIU-TV to Weigel Broadcasting. As part of the sale, Univision moved WXFT's operations to its own studios and changed its call sign to WXFT-DT. WCIU then moved its operations into the facilities that previously housed WXFT.

WXFT-DT airs a schedule consisting primarily of programming from the UniMás network, including telenovelas, news, talk shows, and sports programming. The station also airs local news and public affairs programming.
