Kingsway (A34)
Kingsway is a major road in London, England, running from High Holborn to Aldwych. Constructed in the early 20th century as part of a large-scale urban redevelopment, it provided a new north-south route and cleared slum areas.
The road is notable for its width and straightness, uncommon in central London. Underneath Kingsway runs the Kingsway Tram Subway, originally used for transporting passengers on trams, now primarily used for utilities and infrastructure.
Historically, Kingsway was home to numerous government buildings, including the Public Record Office (now The National Archives). Several theaters and educational institutions are also located on or near Kingsway. The road continues to be a significant thoroughfare and commercial area in central London. The A34 designation applies to part of its length.
