Brad Johnson (American football)
Brad Johnson (born September 29, 1968) is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 17 seasons.
Early Life and College Career
Johnson was born in Marietta, Georgia. He attended Charles D. Owen High School in Black Mountain, North Carolina, and subsequently played college football at Florida State University. He served primarily as a backup quarterback during his time with the Seminoles.
Professional Career
Johnson was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the ninth round of the 1992 NFL Draft. He spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Vikings, primarily as a backup to Warren Moon and later Randall Cunningham.
In 1999, he was traded to the Washington Redskins, where he became the starting quarterback. He led the Redskins to a 10-6 record and a playoff appearance in his first season.
In 2001, Johnson was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl XXXVII victory over the Oakland Raiders in the 2002 season. He was selected to the Pro Bowl twice, in 1999 and 2002.
After his time with the Buccaneers, Johnson played for the Dallas Cowboys (2005-2006), another stint with the Minnesota Vikings (2007-2008), and finally with the Dallas Cowboys again in 2008.
NFL Statistics and Accomplishments
Johnson finished his NFL career with 29,054 passing yards, 194 touchdowns, and 126 interceptions. He completed 57.1% of his passes. His career highlights include a Super Bowl victory and two Pro Bowl selections. He was known for his accuracy and ability to manage the game effectively.
Post-Playing Career
Since retiring from the NFL, Johnson has been involved in various business ventures and has remained active in the community.
