Kharkiv (river)

The Kharkiv River is a river in the Kharkiv Oblast of Ukraine. It is a left tributary of the Lopan River, belonging to the Don basin. The Kharkiv River is approximately 71 kilometers (44 miles) long and has a drainage basin of 1,160 square kilometers (450 square miles).

The river's source is located near the village of Lesnoe in the Bogodukhovsky Raion, and it flows generally south and southwest. It passes through the city of Kharkiv, for which it is named. The river's course is characterized by a relatively slow current and several widening sections.

The Kharkiv River has several small tributaries. Its water is primarily used for irrigation and industrial purposes. The ecological condition of the river is affected by urban and industrial runoff, requiring ongoing efforts for water quality improvement.
