Kamsar
Kamsar is a port city located in Guinea, West Africa. It is situated on the mouth of the Sangaredi River, near the Atlantic Ocean. Kamsar is primarily known as a major bauxite mining and export center.
The Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG), a joint venture between the Guinean government and several international companies, operates a significant bauxite mine near Sangaredi, which is transported to Kamsar via a dedicated railway line. At Kamsar, the bauxite is processed and shipped to aluminum refineries worldwide.
Kamsar's economy is heavily reliant on the bauxite industry. The city has a significant expatriate population due to the presence of CBG and its international partners. Infrastructure in Kamsar is largely geared towards supporting the mining and export operations, including a deep-water port capable of handling large cargo vessels. While Kamsar experiences tropical weather, its climate is moderated by its coastal location.
