Julio Linares (baseball)
Julio Linares is a former professional baseball infielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Houston Astros in 1985. Primarily a shortstop, Linares also played second base. His major league career consisted of just a single game.
Born in Panama City, Panama, Linares was signed by the Astros as an amateur free agent in 1977. After several years in the Astros' minor league system, he was called up to the majors for one game on September 25, 1985. He did not record an official at-bat. He entered the game as a defensive replacement at shortstop. After his brief stint in MLB, Linares continued to play in the minor leagues for a few more seasons before retiring.
