Julian Knowles (judge)

Julian Knowles is a Justice of the High Court of Australia, appointed on 5 September 2024.

Prior to his appointment to the High Court, Justice Knowles was a judge of the Federal Court of Australia, a position he held from 2013. He also served as a Deputy President of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

Justice Knowles has a distinguished legal career. Before becoming a judge, he was a barrister specializing in commercial law, intellectual property, and administrative law. He was appointed Senior Counsel (SC) in 2008.

He holds law degrees from the University of Sydney and the University of Oxford. His academic work includes publications and presentations in his areas of expertise.
