Robert M. Douglas (judge)

Robert M. Douglas (1849-1917) was a prominent jurist in North Carolina, serving as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina from 1897 to 1907. He was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina, and educated at Davidson College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he studied law.

Douglas's legal career began in Greensboro, North Carolina. Before his tenure on the Supreme Court, he was active in local and state politics, holding positions such as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He also served as a judge in the Superior Court system prior to his Supreme Court appointment.
