VFA-195
VFA-195 is a United States Navy strike fighter squadron based at Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan. The squadron is known as the "Dambusters" and flies the F/A-18E Super Hornet. It is assigned to Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) and deployed aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76).
VFA-195's origins trace back to Fighter Squadron 153 (VF-153), established in 1945. Throughout its history, the squadron has operated a variety of aircraft, including the F4U Corsair, F9F Panther, F-8 Crusader, and F-4 Phantom II. The squadron transitioned to the F/A-18C Hornet in 1987 and was redesignated Strike Fighter Squadron 195 (VFA-195). In 2013, it transitioned to the F/A-18E Super Hornet.
The "Dambusters" participate in exercises and operations throughout the Indo-Pacific region, contributing to maritime security and power projection. Their insignia features a stylized dam with a bomb bursting through it, a reference to the historical British "Dambusters" raid during World War II.
