John Yorke (1728–1801)
John Yorke (1728–1801) was a British Member of Parliament.
Yorke was born in 1728, the son of Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke, and Jemima Campbell, Marchioness Grey. He was the brother of Philip Yorke, 2nd Earl of Hardwicke, Charles Yorke, and James Yorke, Bishop of Ely.
He served as Member of Parliament for Reigate from 1754 to 1761 and for Higham Ferrers from 1768 to 1780.
Yorke married Elizabeth Lygon, daughter of Reginald Lygon, in 1762. They had children, including Philip Yorke, 3rd Earl of Hardwicke.
He died in 1801. He is remembered primarily for his parliamentary career and family connections. His life provides insight into the political landscape and aristocratic families of 18th-century Britain.
